Interior Stair & Railing System Designer

Location: 3228 Moodie Drive, Ottawa, ON

What's the opportunity?

Stairs and railings are a focal point in people’s homes. In this role, you will help make the design vision a reality, working within the overall building design, project timeline and project budget. Your sound product knowledge and technical expertise will be at the heart of your success, but you will have daily opportunities to demonstrate that you are a team player with a customer service focus.

Your day-to-day

• • Design factory-built stairs using Staircon design software
  • Estimate stair and railing systems based on customer-provided plans and drawings
  • Communicate with KOTT Sales, Production and Installation teams to complete estimates in
  accordance with project timelines
  • Track work assignments using KOTT’s Enterprise Resource Management software

What you need to succeed:

Experience & Education

• • Experience as a Railing Estimator or Stair Designer is preferred, but other design or estimating experience in the residential construction industry will be considered
• • Architectural Technologist Diploma is preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered
• • Experience installing stairs or railings is a strong asset
• • Other framing or carpentry experience, or experience working on a construction site, is an asset

Skills & Qualifications

• • Proficiency with Staircon stair design and AutoCAD software
  • Strong general computer skills required, including experience with MS Office
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans and drawings is mandatory
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code is an asset
  • Fluency in English is required; fluency in French is an asset
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and a team player
