Siding Service Technician

Location: 3228 Moodie Drive, Ottawa, ON - Closing date: June 9, 2020

Our Service Techs play a huge role in delivering on our promise, and ensuring our customers are satisfied.  We are looking for a full-time Service Technician to assess and repair siding issues at new home construction sites, as well as at occupied homes and managed properties.

 What’s the opportunity?

Working in an ever-changing environment, you will be dispatched to multiple service calls per day. Your hands-on skill and experience, combined with your strong customer-service orientation, will play a vital role in keeping our largest customers happy.  At the same time, your ability to quickly troubleshoot, be self-directed, and communicate well will have a positive impact on KOTT’s operational efficiency.

You will be provided with a company vehicle, a company clothing package, tools, and Personal Protective Equipment (except for safety shoes, which you provide).

Your day-to-day

  • • Diagnose siding, exterior cladding and trim deficiencies, and assess repair work required
  • • Document and communicate the scope of work
  • • Repair/replace all types of siding; including vinyl, aluminum, Hardie board and metal siding
  • • Repair and/or replace soffit and fascia as required
  • • Submit service records for timely processing of warranty claims and invoices



  • • Must have 5 years’ siding experience, including experience with multiple siding types, soffit and fascia
  • • Experience operating a metal break, passlode, drills, saws, snips, benders, caulking guns is required
  • • Experience operating a manlift is considered an asset
  • • Roofing experience is considered an asset

Skills & Qualifications

  • • You are comfortable working at heights
  • • Working at Heights and WHMIS 2015 certification is required
  • • Valid G class license with a clean abstract is required
  • • Fluency in English is required; fluency in French is an asset
  • • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and stand for long periods of time – due to the nature of this position
  • • Ability to carry, use, and safely tie off ladders of all sizes
  • • Proficiency in the use of smartphones, to communicate information and photos from job site to office
  • • Safety-orientation, and familiarity with all types of Personal Protective Equipment
  • • Ability to read and interpret building plans and drawings is an asset

AZ Driver – Short Haul (no overnights!)

Location: 3228 Moodie Drive, Ottawa, ON

Job Description:

KOTT Inc.’s goal is to get our customers what they need, when they need it. Our AZ Drivers play a huge role in delivering on our promise. We are looking for full-time AZ Drivers for local deliveries.

As part of the KOTT Delivery team, you will make several local delivery runs each day from KOTT to residential construction sites, and have the opportunity to be home every night.

You will operate our fleet of brand new and late model delivery vehicles, and will be supported by an advanced fleet management program.

Your day-to-day
• Oversee the safe loading and strapping of materials
• Drive a tractor trailer – safely and efficiently – to and from job sites
• Oversee the safe unloading of materials at customer sites
• Be responsible for the safe operation of your vehicle
• Report all maintenance issues


  • Experience
    • You have a minimum of 2 years current driving experience
    • Experience operating a Moffatt is considered an asset
    • Experience with oversize loads is considered an asset

Skills & Qualifications
• You are 25 years or older (requirement of our insurer)
• You must have an AZ Driver’s license with a clean abstract and CVOR
• You enjoy dealing with people, and have strong communications skills
• You delight in providing great customer service

Design and Drafting Technologist

Location: 14 Anderson Boulevard, Stouffville, ON with occasional work at 3228 Moodie Drive, Ottawa, ON

As a full-time permanent member of the KOTT Inc. Design & Engineering team, your key responsibility is to draft and prepare engineering designs related to wall and floor panels for residential construction, based on customer-provided plans and Scopes of Work. Your main duties

  • » Prepare engineering designs and drawings
  • » Develop and prepare designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, specification sheets and other data
  • » Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets
  • » Prepare construction specifications, costs and material estimates
  • » Write technical reports
  • » Prepare contracts and tender documents;
  • » Write specifications
  • » Estimate costs and materials
  • » Train other drafting personnel
  • » Examine drawings for conformity and errors
  • » Read and interpret blueprints, building plans and drawings
  • » Operate computer-assisted design (CAD) and drafting workstations
  • » Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data
  • » Use Mitek software to design and draft Factory-built Wall & Floor panels
  • » Identify and flag any design issues or discrepancies noticed during the design process
  • » Communicate with KOTT team members to complete designs and send them to production, in accordance with project timelines
  • » Communicate with customers, if required, for clarification on plans or details
  • » Track work assignments using KOTT’s Enterprise Resource Management software



Completion of a two- to three-year college program in design, drafting technology, civil engineering, architectural technology or in a related field is required. Equivalent experience will be considered if educational requirements are not met.


  • » Two years’ experience as a drafting technologist, panel designers (or other framing components) is a great asset
  • » Familiarity with workflow, procedures and framing techniques used on a construction job site is considered an asset
  • » On-the-job training is provided
  • » Language: English required, French is an asset
  • » Experience with Mitek design software, particularly Mitek Sapphire is preferred
  • » Strong general computer skills are required, including experience with MS Office products
  • » Ability to read and interpret building plans and drawings is mandatory
  • » Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code is an asset
  • » Knowledge of residential building components and construction terminology is an asset
  • Flexibility in schedule is required to work extended hours/overtime and/or weekends on occasion to meet customer deadlines. The employee will work from Monday to Friday, from 7:30AM to 4:00PM.
