Operations Director – GTA

Overview

As a member of KOTT’s Leadership Team, you are accountable for all aspects of production, manufacturing, shipping, logistics, maintenance and customer care in the GTA (locations in Uxbridge and Cobourg).

Frequent travel between KOTT’s GTA locations is required.

Your main duties

  • » Oversee KOTT GTA Operations, including production and manufacturing, shipping and logistics, maintenance, and customer care.
  • » Directly supervise a team of Managers and Supervisors, and provide strong leadership, coaching and mentorship to all Operations staff.
  • » Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators that drive operational efficiency and deliver the highest level of service to our customers.
  • » Participate in setting annual budgets and operational goals for KOTT. Set departmental goals for each of your areas of responsibility, and track achievement toward those targets.
  • » In conjunction with the Sales Director, monitor the forecast. Tailor Operations as needed, in the way that best maintains service levels and ensures responsible expense management.
  • » Ensure that Operations fully align with KOTT’s Health & Safety program and policies, and be a champion for our culture of Health & Safety.
  • » Develop the most profitable and efficient staffing model for each department in your area of responsibility. Working with your team of Managers and Supervisors, and with support from Human Resources, be accountable for hiring, training, developing, and managing all Operations staff.

Requirements:

Experience & Education

  • » You have at least 5 years’ experience working in a Business or Operations management role in a medium-sized company.
  • » Experience in the home building, construction or renovation industry is a strong asset.
  • You have a Post-secondary education in Business Administration or Operations Management, or have equivalent work experience.

Skills & Qualifications

  • » Fluency in English is required; fluency in French is an asset
  • » Strong verbal and written communication skills are required
  • » Strong general computer skills are required, including a sound knowledge of MS Office products
  • » To oversee manufacturing and production, being physically able to stand for long periods is required

Design and Drafting Technologist

Requirements:

Education

Completion of a two- to three-year college program in design, drafting technology, civil engineering, architectural technology or in a related field is required. Equivalent experience will be considered if educational requirements are not met.

Experience

  • » Two years’ experience as a drafting technologist, panel designers (or other framing components) is a great asset
  • » Familiarity with workflow, procedures and framing techniques used on a construction job site is considered an asset
  • » On-the-job training is provided
  • » Language: English required, French is an asset
  • » Experience with Mitek design software, particularly Mitek Sapphire is preferred
  • » Strong general computer skills are required, including experience with MS Office products
  • » Ability to read and interpret building plans and drawings is mandatory
