Your day-to-day

  • • Select and measure the proper materials for each job
  • • Set up the work area for maximum safety and efficiency before each job

  • • Move stock to and from the finishing area as required
  • • Complete written work logs accurately, thoroughly and legibly

What you need to succeed:

Experience

  • • Experience working with a variety of stains, finishes and wood types
  • • Experience as a Finisher of stair & railing parts, furniture, or other fine finishing work is preferred
  • • Experience with lacquer/paint spraying, particularly with Kremlin spraying systems, is a strong asset

Skills & Qualifications

  • • Fluency in English is required

  • • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and stand for long periods of time is required due to the nature of this position

Stair & Railing System Designer

Your day-to-day

  • • Design factory-built stairs using Staircon design software
  • • Estimate railing systems based on customer-provided plans and drawings
  • • Communicate with KOTT Sales, Production and Installation teams to complete estimates in accordance with project timelines

What you need to succeed:

Experience & Education

  • • Experience as a Designer or Estimator in the residential construction industry
  • • Architectural Technologist Diploma is preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered
  • • Experience installing stairs or railings is a strong asset
  • • Other framing or carpentry experience, or experience working on a construction site, is an asset

Skills & Qualifications

  • • Proficiency with Staircon stair design and AutoCAD software
  • • Strong general computer skills required, including experience with MS Office

Supervisor, Truss Production (Cobourg afternoon shift)

Installation Coordinator – Interior Railing Systems

Your day-to-day

  • • Prepare accurate and complete Work Orders for railing system installations at customer job sites
  • • Schedule and coordinate all railing installation and finishing work with customers and crews
  • • Schedule and coordinate all railing warranty and service work with customers and crews
  • • Coordinate delivery of all required railing system materials to job sites
  • • Manage the stain matching process with customers and KOTT Production, to ensure that customer expectations for finish are met, while production and delivery schedules are respected
  • • Liaise with customers, and KOTT’s Service, Design, Purchasing and Order Desk teams to provide any design, technical and logistics advice needed to deliver railing installations or service ‘on time, in full’
  • • Process the paperwork required to keep the Railing team running smoothly – PO requests, supplier invoices, customer invoices, Work Orders, updates in online customer procurement systems
  • • Perform other administrative duties that may be required for complete and timely railing installations

As a self-employed subcontractor to KOTT, you will be paid weekly for the work you complete.

  • • KOTT has large contracts in place with many of Ottawa’s largest home builders, and a full slate of work ahead for stair and railing installations in lowrise residential projects
  • • Our Railing Installation Supervisor is dedicated to letting you keep your focus on installation work – he will troubleshoot site issues for you, and be your liaison to ensure you are paid for your work accurately and on time
  • • Occupational Health & Safety is hugely important at all of our workplaces and job sites – our Railing Installation Supervisor will ensure that Occupational Health & Safety and COVID-19 measures are being followed on the job sites where you work
