Floor System Designer

Your day-to-day

  • • Design pre-engineered floor systems using I-Struct or Mitek software
  • • Identify and flag any design issues or discrepancies noticed during the design process
  • • Communicate with KOTT Sales & Production to complete estimates in accordance with project timelines
  • • Track work assignments using KOTT’s Enterprise Resource Management software

What you need to succeed:

Experience & Education

  • • Two years’ experience as a Floor System Designer (or designer of other framing components) is preferred
  • • Experience working on a construction job site is considered an asset
  • • A Civil Engineering Technologist or Architectural Technologist Diploma is preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered

Skills & Qualifications

  • • Experience with I-Struct and/or Mitek design software is preferred
  • • Knowledge of I-Joists, LVL, and other Engineered Wood Products
  • • Strong general computer skills required, including experience with MS Office
  • • Ability to read and interpret building plans and drawings is mandatory
  • • Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code
  • • Fluency in English is required; fluency in French is an asset
  • • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • • Good interpersonal skills and a team player

Stair & Railing Finisher – Spray Booth

Location: 3228 Moodie Drive, Ottawa, ON

Your day-to-day

  • • Select and measure the proper materials for each job
  • • Set up the work area for maximum safety and efficiency before each job
  • • Complete work in standard cycle processing times to meet or exceed production standards
  • • Ensure high quality & appearance by proper sanding, cleaning and application of stain
  • • Move stock to and from the finishing area as required
  • • Complete written work logs accurately, thoroughly and legibly
  • • Other duties as assigned

What you need to succeed:

Experience

  • • Experience working with a variety of stains, finishes and wood types
  • • Experience as a Finisher of stair & railing parts, furniture, or other fine finishing work is preferred
  • • Experience with lacquer/paint spraying, particularly with Kremlin spraying systems, is a strong asset

Skills & Qualifications

  • • Fluency in English is required
  • • Good organizational skills
  • • Good interpersonal skills
  • • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and stand for long periods of time is required due to the nature of this position
  • • Valid G class license with a clean abstract is required

Supervisor, Truss Production (Cobourg afternoon shift)

Location: 581 Thompson St, Cobourg, ON

Our Cobourg Truss Shop requires an experienced Supervisor for the afternoon shift, Monday to Thursday from 3:30 pm to 2:00 am (40 hours). This role is eligible for overtime when required.

Your day-to-day

  • • Supervise and direct the work of the Truss team, providing guidance and feedback
  • • Ensure the production schedule balances available capacity with customer requirements
  • • Troubleshoot and problem solve as required
  • • Conduct Safety Talks and Workplace Inspections with your team
  • • Monitor attendance and punctuality, and provide disciplinary measures as required
  • • Perform reporting and administrative tasks required – e.g. data entry for production tracking
  • • Monitor and assist in quality control measures
  • • Track and document material inventories

What you need to succeed:

Experience

  • • Minimum of 3 years’ experience supervising a team in a manufacturing or production setting
  • • Framing experience is considered a strong asset
  • • Forklift experience is considered a strong asset
  • • You have experience with power tools
  • • You have experience working with your hands
