Stair & Railing Coatings Finisher

What's the opportunity?

We are looking for a full-time Stair & Railing Coatings Finisher to ensure that installed stair and railing systems are move-in ready for homeowners.

Stairs and railings become a focal point in people’s homes. You can take pride in knowing you contributed to something that is not only a design highlight, but serves an important function. Working in an ever-changing environment, your day may include visiting multiple construction sites and units. Your attention to detail and hands-on skill and experience, combined with your strong customer-service orientation, will play a vital role in keeping our largest customers happy.

KOTT will provide you with a company vehicle, a company clothing package, tools, and Personal Protective Equipment (except for safety shoes, which you provide).

Your day-to-day

  • • Touch up the stain and lacquer on stair and railing systems that have been installed
  • • Pre-finish stair and railing parts for the Service team
  • • Repair finishing work that has been damaged on site
  • • Communicate with KOTT Installation Supervisors and Coordinators, and job site Foremen
  • • Conduct vehicle circle checks and maintain daily vehicle logs

What you need to succeed:

Experience

  • • Experience as a Finisher of stair & railing parts, furniture, or other fine finishing work is preferred
  • • Experience with lacquer/paint spraying, particularly with Kremlin spraying systems, is a strong asset
  • • Proficiency using lacquer spray bombs
  • • Proficiency using cup guns for small finishing jobs
  • • Previous experience working on construction job sites is an asset
  • • Knowledge of carpentry is an asset

Skills & Qualifications

  • • Valid G class license with a clean abstract is required
  • • Fluency in English is required; fluency in French is an asset
  • • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and stand for long periods of time is required
  • • Proficiency in the use of smartphones, to communicate information and photos from job site to office
  • • Ability to read and interpret building plans and drawings is an asset

Stair Service Technician

Location: Based out of 3228 Moodie Drive, Ottawa, ON

What's the opportunity?

Our Service Techs play a huge role in delivering on our promise and ensuring our customers are satisfied.  We are looking for a full-time Service Technician to assess and repair stair issues at new home construction sites, as well as at occupied homes and managed properties.

Working in an ever-changing environment, you will be dispatched to multiple service calls per day. Your hands-on skill and experience, combined with your strong customer-service orientation, will play a vital role in keeping our largest customers happy.  At the same time, your ability to quickly troubleshoot, be self-directed, and communicate well will have a positive impact on KOTT’s operational efficiency.

KOTT will provide you with a company vehicle, a company clothing package, tools, and Personal Protective Equipment (except for safety shoes, which you provide).

Your day-to-day

  • • Replace damaged hardwood treads
  • • Prep (scrape) hardwood treads for finishing
  • • Re-veneer hardwood stair stringers and risers
  • • Install decorative hardwood trim pieces
  • • Repair damaged carpet grade treads
  • • Repair stair squeaks
  • • Help with stain/lacquer touch ups
  • • Coordinate with the KOTT Design team to eliminate stair repairs due to design issues
  • • Conduct vehicle circle checks and maintain daily vehicle logs
  • • Submit service records for timely processing of warranty claims and invoices

What you need to succeed:

Experience

  • • Ideally you have studied to be a Carpenter, and have 2-5 years’ carpentry experience
  • • Previous experience working on construction job sites is required
  • • Experience as a Finish Carpenter is a strong asset

Skills & Qualifications

  • • Valid G class license with a clean abstract is required

AZ Driver – Short Haul (no overnights!)

Location: We need drivers for Carp, Ottawa and Uxbridge

As part of the KOTT Delivery team, you will make several local delivery runs each day from KOTT to residential construction sites, and have the opportunity to be home every night.

You will operate our fleet of brand new and late model delivery vehicles, and will be supported by an advanced fleet management program.

Your day-to-day
• Oversee the safe loading and strapping of materials
• Drive a tractor trailer – safely and efficiently – to and from job sites
• Oversee the safe unloading of materials at customer sites
• Be responsible for the safe operation of your vehicle
• Report all maintenance issues

What you need to succeed:

  • Experience
    • You have a minimum of 2 years current driving experience
    • Experience operating a Moffett is considered an asset
    • Experience with oversize loads is considered an asset

Skills & Qualifications
• You are 25 years or older (requirement of our insurer)
• You must have an AZ Driver’s license with a clean abstract and CVOR
• You enjoy dealing with people, and have strong communications skills
